What
Do You Want?
Over the years, I’ve
written columns from California to South Carolina. My subject
matter remains similar; albeit the climate and the players might change. I am
fiercely political, just not partisan. I believe that elected (and appointed)
officials should be accountable to the public and most of all, I believe in
community service.
Communities cannot grow and prosper without an infusion of
community s p i r i t . T h a t m e a n s participation from service clubs,
public and private sector and of course, local chambers of commerce. I tip my
hat to the staff and t h e v o l u n t e e r s a n d ambassadors who make the
B a n n i n g C h a m b e r a functional and vibrant organization.
I see more good things ahead when the Chamber moves across
the street to larger quarters. Change happens whether we like it or not and
while there is a sentimental attachment by some to the existing building, it
just isn’t large enough for the needs of Banning's growing chamber and the
responsibilities that come with it.
Here’s something I’ve found in almost every community…
there’s only a handful of people who pitch in and get things done. The problem
there is the burnout factor. So I guess it’s time to ask those age old
questions. What do you want your Chamber to do for you?
Are you interested in growing your business? Are you new in
town? Do you attend mixers? Would you like to see more mixers/less mixers? Oh
yes, how would you like to pitch in to make the Banning Chamber a more vibrant
organization?
Nothing happens until somebody does something about it! The
statement may not be profound; just true.
D o y o u h a v e suggestions? Good! Why not drop an email,
a note, or make a phone call and tell the Chamber what you think! Working
together just makes Banning a better place to work and live. Thanks for
caring.
