A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words - Biggi Remodel - - Wonderland recreated

Biggi "Wonderland" goes beyond expectation

When Lindi Biggi said to Geno Biggi, "it's time to do a modest remodel" - nothing prepared them for the nearly two years it has been. Modernizing the kitchen has turned into tearing the house down and rebuilding. Out of the chaos is emerging one of the desert's most unique estates.

The Biggi Bird Gardens is a well known attraction for local fund raisers and charity events. "Now," Geno Biggi said nearly two years ago, "the house will match the splendor of the grounds."

As Geno tends to their various businesses in Oregon, Lindi has dealt with the day to day business of supervising the construction of the over 5,500 square foot house. "Like everything else we do," Lindi said as she tried to answer all of the questions that were being thrown at her, "it's going to be . . . perfectly imperfect."

There is little imperfection about what the Biggis are building. Admittedly, Lindi has paid for and fired hands full of architects. "I have been blessed to find incredible artists, artisans and craftsman to work on this project. Each participant in this estate will leave their signature here. We create as we go along. It's incredible!"

After nearly two years of living in temporary quarters, Lindi looks to the day in the very near future when she can actually begin moving furniture into the long-awaited house. Along with her main theme, "everything African" - the house will be "smart" and efficient. Taking the plunge to install solar panels took some prodding but the Biggis are convinced it was the right move to make. "We need to conserve some of the resources we keep wasting, Lindi said. "The solar is a good investment and we should see immediate returns by hopefully cutting our huge electric bill in half."

The Biggis have also had the highest installation installed and used the best energy ratings for their air conditioning units. Whenever possible, Energy Star appliances were purchased. Welcome to Wonderland!
